Weekly Photo Challenge: Unique

It’s a bird…it’s a plane…it’s unique, whatever it is.

I found this creepy crawly immobilized in the parking lot of my housing complex.  Supported by flimsy legs and crippled wings, I can only assume this fist-sized creature visited straight from the set of The Mothman Prophecies.  But it was substantially larger than any moth I’ve ever seen.  I’m not sure what’s most alarming: the arms sprouting from its mouth; its reflective, alien eyes; the tiny, bead-like joints; or its hideous, grey toupee.  Either way, I’m fairly certain this elderly insect was anchored to that patch of cement.  Its wings, tattered and scarred, would have been defying gravity–and the laws of physics–if they managed to lift that overstuffed torso from the ground.

I have not seen anything like it before or since that day.  What do you think it is?
