What Do George Herbert and I Have in Common?

Each year, Athanatos Christian Ministries (ACM) opens its publishing doors to writers from across the globe.  In offering their annual poetry and short story contests, they provide artists of the written word a chance to share their work with the world.  As part of their mission, ACM is a ministry committed to applying the Christian world view in creative contexts.  And, I am humbled to announce that they have presented me with this year’s George Herbert Award.  My poem, “The Fall”, will be published in their 2013 anthology.  “The Fall” illustrates the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ and will be available soon at their website.

The biography of George Herbert describes the Anglican priest as “a pivotal figure: enormously popular, deeply and broadly influential, and arguably the most skillful and important British devotional lyricist.”

Thank you, Athanatos Christian Ministries, Inc. for this wonderful honor.  I pray I can live up to the name.
