The jolting shock of Christmas last year has haunted me for nearly 365 days. I don’t remember details from last year’s ordeal (perhaps it is a defense mechanism my brain is so kindly employing). I do, however, remember living in my moment-to-moment routine – because, let’s be honest, when you’re a stay at home mom that’s the only way you can survive out there in the wild. It wasn’t until a few days before Christmas that I realized the holiday was here. And I had nothing to show for it but the usual un-holiday things: two full hampers of dirty laundry; greasy, unwashed hair; and a needy newborn.
Now, the long lines and “cheery” Christmas shopping in the days leading up to the holiday aren’t what most people want to experience in the first place. But if you throw in a baby who has a monstrous appetite for breast milk and outfit-ruining blowout diapers? Somebody might actually not make it out of the store alive.
So, a few weekends ago, I set a personal record for myself: I started Christmas shopping before Thanksgiving. Way, way before. It was almost unsettling. But it was the only way I could foresee making it to the checkout counter without worrying about my toddler having a meltdown first.
All this to say, I have some special gifts for you, too, friends. As a special thank you for your readership, I’ll be implementing Freebie Fridays, where I’ll be giving away gifts once a month to lucky readers.
Stay tuned and come back to see what you could win!
